Egypt to link Zohr’s well 13 to production by end of September

CAIRO – 22 August 2019: Petroleum Sector will complete linking well number 13 of Zohr gas field to production by the end of September 2019, an official source at the sector said.
The source told Egypt Today that the Zohr's production hike has a close link with the completion and implementation of the second sea line which has a diameter of 30 inches and a length of 215 km, and which entered operations in mid-August.
He explained that this sea line accommodates the additional quantities of the expected production in addition to giving validity to production from the wells interchangeably, provides a possibility to exchange the required production of wells, allowing the maintenance of wells without affecting production.
On Aug. 21, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el-Molla revealed that the production capacity of Zohr field increased to 2.7 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas.
Molla clarified in a statement that this hike came ahead of the scheduled date in the field development plan by about four months, pointing out that this rise came after the completion and implementation of the second sea line.
The new sea line connects the wells of the southern part of Zohr to production, bringing the number of wells currently produced to 12, according to the statement.
Zohr gas Field is Egypt’s main contributor to gas supply and is the biggest gas field in the Mediterranean, with an estimated production of 30 trillion cubic feet.
Eni discovered Egypt's giant Zohr gas field in 2015. In December 2017, the company delivered the first gas production from the field estimated at 30 trillion cubic feet, which makes it the biggest gas field in the Mediterranean region.
