Egypt discusses shipbuilding, ports upgrading with Singapore

CAIRO – 24 August 2017: Egypt started talks with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore about cooperation in the fields of shipbuilding and investing in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamesh said on Thursday.
During a two-day visit to Singapore along with Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr, Mamesh expressed interest in benefiting from the Asian country’s experience in upgrading maritime ports, a statement from the Ministry of Investment said.
Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Teo Chee Hean praised the economic reform measures adopted in Egypt and the national projects launched, expressing willingness of his country to cooperate with Egypt.
In an official visit to Vietnam and Singapore from August 22 to 26, Nasr and Mamesh target signing contracts and memoranda of understandings (MoUs) for the SCZone.
