Arab coalition launches qualitative operation northern Hodeidah

RIYADH – 20 September 2019: Spokesman for the Joint Forces Command (JFC) of the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen, Colonel Turki Al-Malki said the forces carried out a qualitative operation in north of Hodeidah on Friday against the Houthi terrorist militia's hostile targets that pose a threat to regional and international security, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
Al-Malki made the remarks following the statement issued by the JFC of Coalition on Thursday regarding the interception and destruction of a remote-controlled booby-trapped boat.
He explained that the destroyed targets included four sites for the assembling and booby-trapping of remote-controlled boats as well as naval mines. These sites are used to carry out hostilities and terrorist operations that threaten maritime shipping lanes and routes and international trade in Bab Al-Mandab Strait and the southern Red Sea.
He further said that the Houthi terrorist militia are taking the governorate of Hodeidah as headquarters for launching ballistic missiles, drones, booby-trapped and remote-controlled boats, as well as indiscriminately deploying naval mines, in a clear violation of international humanitarian law and the provisions of Stockholm Agreement and the ceasefire agreement in Hodeidah.
He stressed that the Coalition's JFC has the legitimate right to take and implement appropriate deterrence measures to deal with these legitimate military goals, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, while continuing to support all political efforts to apply Stockholm Agreement and put an end to the coup.
