We are ready to deliver, Gharib

CAIRO – 8 November 2019: Egypt U-23 national team manager, Shawki Gharib, promises Egyptian fans that the team will show character during Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.
“Our squad depends on domestic based players but this is not a problem for us because they have high qualities. I can assure our fans we are ready to deliver.” Gharib said.
The Egyptian team aims to secure one of the three tickets qualifying for 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Gharib was appointed as U-23 national team manager in January 2018 and since then he and his coaching staff started their preparations to take the team back to the Olympic Games after missing 2016 tournament in Rio.
Gharib added “We started preparing for this tournament a long time ago. We played a number of friendly games that were very useful for us.”
Egypt football appeared at the Olympic games 11 times before and their best achievement was achieving the fourth place in 1928 in Amsterdam and 1964 in Tokyo.
Africa U-23 Cup of Nations gets underway on Friday night at Cairo Stadium when Egypt kicks off the tournament against tournament favorites, Mali.
