Mai Farouk to perform in Sayed Darwish Theater on Aug. 17

CAIRO – 16 August 2019: As part of the Opera Summer Festival, singer Mai Farouk, accompanied by the band led by Mostafa Helmy, will perform at 8 p.m. on Aug. 17 in Alexandria's Sayed Darwish Theater.
The concert will present a selection of the most important masterpieces of the “Planet of the East” Umm Kulthum, along with a selection of Tarab compositions by Mohamed Abdel Wahab and Fayza Ahmed, in addition to a number of Farouk's own works.It is noteworthy that Farouk began her artistic career at the age of 8, where she joined the children’s choir of the opera and was trained by maestro Salim Sahab.
Farouk is known for performing Umm Kulthum’s songs because of the distinctiveness and strength of her voice. She also presented a collection of contemporary works that bear the character of the golden era and succeeded in achieving a wide fan base.
