Egypt’s National Election Authority preparing timeframe for Senate election

CAIRO, July 2 (MENA) – The National Election Authority (NEA) under the chairmanship of counselor Lashin Ibrahim, Head of the Cassation Court embarked upon preparations for the upcoming Senate (upper house of parliament) election.
A statement issued by the NEA Thursday said, work is in full swing – following the issuance of a law on the Senate formation the House of Representatives passed in April – in preparation for securing the voting process and determining its duration from beginning to end as well as nomination dates and ballot stations.
The election process is to be carried out amid high precautionary measures to guarantee the safety of citizens casting their ballots due to the current pandemic, the statement read.
